Telemedicine or Telehealth

We  have started telemedicine or telehealth visits here at Topeka Pediatrics! Most insurance companies are paying for these visits. We will however, need consent in order for families to participate in these new services. We will also need to schedule appointments for these visits, so please call the office during regular business hours to schedule a visit.

These visits are designed for looking at rashes, checking for dehydration, watching breathing, looking at a throat, eyes and to see if a child needs further hands on evaluation during this outbreak. Additionally, these visits can be used for medicine checks for anxiety, depression, or ADHD. Unfortunately, we can’t tell if you have strep, flu, ear infection or have pneumonia without examining your kiddo in person, so those types of visits will still need to be scheduled at the office.

Additionally, well child exams cannot be completed via telemedicine. The physical exam component has to be done in person. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends continuing essential well care including vaccines even during this crisis. We want to make sure your child remains protected from other childhood diseases. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if your child is due for a well check.

To consent for Telehealth, we will have you sign into your patient portal, and send us a message using the "Telemedicine Consent" template. Just follow the instructions, and send the message to us once it is completed! You will only have to this once per family, as long as each child is listed in the message. Even if you do not plan on using telehealth services in the near future, completing this ahead of time will greatly streamline the process if and when you decide to use them. Thank you!
