All About Dr. Zubiaur, "Dr. Z"
Dr. Z grew up in Overland Park, KS before attending college in Dallas, medical school at the University of Missouri, and working her way back home for residency at Children’s Mercy Hospital. She loves being a pediatrician because of the relationships she can develop with children over time and sharing their parents’ excitement as they grow and change.
Dr. Z participated in research during medical school related to childhood obesity and loves to discuss nutrition and activity at all your well child checks, so your kids can stay healthy instead of trying to become healthy as adults. She also has a special interest in infant health and graduated from the advocacy track at Children’s Mercy after doing work related to safe sleep.
In her free time, she is an avid reader (and hopes your kids will be too!), enjoys swing and salsa dancing, and travels in search of new adventures every chance she gets. In the meantime, you’ll find her at home playing board games with he husband or dancing and laughing with her toddler when she isn’t taking care of her patients.
Hi, there! I am Dr. Zubiaur, but you can call me Dr. Z! I have been on the Topeka Pediatrics team since 2021. I am from Overland Park and went to Dallas for college, which was one of my favorite adventures, but it only took a few years to teach me that the Midwest was my home. I worked my way back through Mizzou where I went to medical school until I moved back to Kansas for residency at Children’s Mercy.
I cannot wait to watch your children grow, and I know we can be good partners monitoring their growth and development, fostering healthy choices for their minds and bodies, and setting them up for success through their whole lives. The best part of my job is sharing your joy in all their successes. I particularly love walking with new parents through all the adventures and excitement of the quickly changing days with a new baby. Whether I have the honor of becoming your pediatrician or care for your kids when they need me in our urgent care, I cannot wait to support your family.
I live in Topeka with my husband and our growing family. If I am not in clinic, you’ll usually find me at home with my family, reading, dancing, and trying out yummy recipes. Rest assured that the advice I offer you in clinic is the same advice that I try to follow in my own home. I find that parenthood helps me understand the difficulties of raising healthy kids in a way that none of my medical training could achieve!
