Edelis Ocasio, APRN
Edelis Ocasio was born in Puerto Rico but the Army and her family have made Junction City her home. As a native Spanish speaker she brings her bilingual skills to Topeka Pediatrics in order to better serve our Spanish speaking families.
Edelis the first person in her family to attend college, and took to school like a fish to water and continued until she had achieved her bachelor’s in nursing from Washburn University in 2010 and later her Master’s degree in 2016. Her love for wanting to work with children was instant – during her clinical rotation in pediatrics she fell in love with the atmosphere and knew it was where she eventually wanted to settle down as a nurse practitioner.
Since graduating as a nurse practitioner,Edelis worked in the urgent care setting as well as for family practice until joining the team at Topeka Pediatrics part-time under Dr. Cain. In February of 2019, she became a full-time member of the Topeka Pediatrics. Edelis has also found a role working for Children’s Mercy Hospital as they prepare to open a new urgent care facility in her hometown of Junction City, Kansas. Children are a love of hers, and now that love is becoming a profession.
In her spare time Edelis enjoys swimming, reading, cooking, and indulging her inner child with Disney movies. She has also recently tried her hand at Kickboxing and fallen in love! Two of her favorite roles that she occupies in life are that of Aunt and Dog Mom. She has three nephews, one niece, and two fur-babies.
